The books

Language learning for Arabic-speaking students where the texts are based on the students' everyday environment in Sweden while being politically and religiously neutral. The series consists of six books that apply the educational methods used in Swedish schools regarding language learning.

This textbook for pupils with Arabic as their mother tongue fills an important need for suitable material for primary and middle school children. The book contains everyday words and Modern Standard Arabic, something that Arabic-speaking children do not of course get at home as the spoken language at home is not the language used in writing. This book thus gives children the opportunity to develop their skills in expressing themselves correctly in writing in Arabic.

My language is Arabic! 1 is intended for students who are about to become familiar with the Arabic alphabet. The book is recommended for children in 6-year-olds and grades 1-2.

The alphabet is presented in combination with an image. First, the individual letters are displayed and then put together in simple words. After every four letters there are exercises that repeat the letters.

My language is Arabic! 2 is intended for students who are already familiar with the alphabet and who should start learning to read and write simple words. The book is recommended for students in grades 1-3.

The alphabet is repeated and students learn to read and write using simple sentences.

My language is Arabic! 3


My language is Arabic! 3 is intended for students who can read and write simple words and should start learning to read and write simple and short sentences. The book is recommended for students in grades 2-4.

My language is Arabic! 3 consists of two units. Each unit contains five chapters with texts and exercises. The texts are simple and followed by content issues. Then follow tasks that contain glosses from the text. Students learn the grammar through educational example sentences, which are followed by their own writing exercises.

My language is Arabic! 4 is intended for students who can already read simple sentences and should start learning to read and write short paragraphs of text. The book is recommended for students in grades 3-6.

The book consists of two units. Each unit contains five chapters with texts and associated grammatical and general exercises. The texts are simple and educational. The book also contains some pages for notes or dictation.

My language is Arabic! 4 expands the students' ability to develop their language by telling them about themselves and their relationships with the surroundings. In a slightly more advanced language, students talk about friendship, rules at home and school, how to use their free time and much else that relates to their everyday lives.

My language is Arabic! 5 is intended for students who can read and write short text sections but continue to develop the Arabic language. The book is recommended for students in grades 5-7.

My language is Arabic! 6 is intended for students who have basic knowledge of Arabic but want to continue to develop the Arabic language orally and in writing to a more advanced level. The book is recommended for students in grades 6-8.
